Get startedThere's a few core questions most small business owners have when they chat to us about their options for solar:
For smaller installations the domestic price guide should give you a good idea:
House Size | Cost (after grant) | Solar Array Size | Electricity Generation per year (South-facing 30° roof) |
---|---|---|---|
2-bed terraced house | €5,891 | 3.52 kWp (8 x 440Wp panels) | 3,063 kWh |
3-bed semi-detached | €6,145 | 4.4 kWp (10 x 440Wp panels) | 3,848 kWh |
4-bed detached house | €6,565 | 5.28 kWp (12 x 440Wp panels) | 4,874 kWh |
6-bed detached house | €7,338 | 7.04 kWp (16 x 440Wp panels) | 6,098 kWh |
If you are looking at a larger installation please just get in touch and we'll put together a quote for you, but as a rule of thumb the larger in solar installation the cheaper it becomes per panel installed.
There are two different grant schemes for solar installations - there's the domestic pv solar grants (up to €2,100), and the non-domestic microgen grants (up to €162,600) which cover solar on businesses, public buildings, non-profits and alike.
If the building you are fitting solar panels to is a residential building, for example you are working form a home office or alike, then you would fall under the domestic pv solar grant scheme.
If the building you are fitting solar panels to in is not a residential building then you would fall under the domestic pv solar grant scheme.
For solar installations of 4kWp or under (approximately 10 panels) the grant values are the same for both schemes. The really difference is that the domestic scheme maxes out at €2,100, which you get for systems 4kWp or above, whereas the non-domestic microgen grant's value keeps growing with larger solar installations and cover systems all the way up to 1,000kWp.
We've built a small business solar calculator to help you here. You can pop in various sizes and it'll show you things like the roof area needed, annual units made, grant values and more.
Please note this assumes you are on the Non Domestic Microgen Grant (i.e. you are in a non-residential building). If your building is residential, and you'd be on the domestic pv solar grant, then your grant would be capped at €2,100.

With solar PV, your existing roof space becomes a company asset.
The first step in the process. We gather as much information as possible to make an informed assessment. We will request your annual site electrical data and determine your roof space and what is achievable in terms of roof area and roof type.
As soon as we have analysed the data and determined the correct system size we will present you with a preliminary proposal.
A preliminary proposal is sufficiently detailed enough to allow us to determine if solar array is the right for solution for your business. We want what is right for you. So this is an important step before either party commits too much time or resource on something that may not progress past the concept stage in the short/medium-term.
If our proposal is within the ballpark, the next step is to meet you on-site to measure and understand the different variables on-site.
Assuming all goes well we will return to you a formal proposal. This proposal will be more detailed than the preliminary proposal and give an indication of what the installation will look like and if there will be interruptions to site operations.
Once you have agreed to move forward with your project we begin the process for ESB Networks connection application.
As soon as the appropriate permissions are agreed upon and in place, we move into the installation phase.
We work closely with you and your teams to ensure there is minimal disruption to site operations.
Once your solar PV system has been successfully installed, we will arrange a detailed handover with you and your team. We will go through all the various operating procedures and the online monitoring portal.
One year on from when your system is commissioned, we will organise an annual review of your system. We will analyse your system data, give the system a health check and provide you with feedback on performance.
Protect your business against rapidly rising energy costs from the national grid by installing solar PV.
As solar PV is carbon neutral and completely renewable, installing solar on your buildings will lower your company's carbon footprint, and a fantastic way to do your part in the fight against climate change.
Installing solar PV panels will reduce your business's energy usage and electricity bills. Savings from Solar can be re-invested back into the company for continued growth.
Installing Solar panels to power your business on renewable energy will demonstrate to your clients and employees your company's commitment towards a green and sustainable organisation.
We understand that as a business, it's never been more important to communicate with your clients that you are contributing to the causes they believe in. Consumers are increasingly factoring social and environmental factors into their purchasing decisions, and so the pressure is on businesses to not only do their part, but to let the world know too. We are here to help.
For each business installation we do, we can generate a sustainability report, highlighting the actions you've taken, and how that's contributing to reducing your carbon footprint. This is entirely free.
Great images from the sky to show off your new investment in the best possible light.
To help you tell the world what you've installed - the area, number of panels, peak production.
How much clean, green electricity your business is now contributing to Ireland
The number of tonnes of CO2 per year your new system should save the planet from.
We do not include any financial information, unless of course you would like us too.
We can do any (or all) of the below formats, depending on what helps you the most. Just let us know what works for you.
If you are building a page on your website to highlight your actions, you are going to need the information and quality imagery to match. We can supply both.
Super easy to share, we can give you a ready-to-go PDF you can share with clients and the wider community alike.
The easiest of all the options and extra exposure for you. We can add a sustainability report as a page on our website, which you can easily share via social media and more.
To get your report, just let us know you are interested at any point when we are chatting and planning your solar installation. We'd very happily make that sustainability report for you once your solar panels are installed (it's free.)
Solar panels generate clean free electricity during daylight hours which works well with businesses as they normally operate during daylight hours. This green electricity can be used to offset the electricity that you would normally import from the national grid.
A typical commercial solar PV installation will provide free renewable electricity for more than 25 years and achieve a financial return of up to 20% per year and an average payback of 3-5 years. Solar is relatively straightforward to install and maintain. There is an abundance of solar energy that hits your rooftop currently that can be captured to provide a clean and reliable source of energy.
Companies like yours can play their part in Ireland's renewable energy transition by installing solar PV and reducing your carbon footprint.
A Small and Medium Enterprise solar PV installations cost range between €1,300 and €1,600 per kWp installed. Costs depend on a number of factors including roof access, roof covering, pitch and electrical installation costs. For a 30kWp system fully installed the system will cost in the region of approximately €39,000 and €48,000 ex VAT.
A kWp will give an estimated saving of around €254 per year. This results in an estimated saving of €7,600 per year for a 30kWp system, giving a return on investment of between 5 and 7 years. The panels and the mounting equipment will last 25 years or more with the solar inverter likely needing to be replaced in this time frame.
The return on investment comes in the form of significantly reduced electricity bills. Each kWh generated and consumed on-site from the solar PV system is worth approx. 30 cent (estimated unit rate of electricity). Over the 25 year lifespan of the system, one kWp will generate roughly 750-900kWh per year. That is around 20,000kWh over the lifetime of the system. This works out at a cost of 7 cent per kWh of solar generated providing you with a net savings of 23 cent for every kWh generated and consumed.
The Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) has launched the €150m Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions. This finance scheme offers loans for SMEs planning to invest in solar panels, heat pumps, LED lighting, and other energy-saving technology.
Businesses using the new Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme will benefit from easier access and reduced interest rates. Fixed rates of 4.79% are currently available on loans ranging from €10,000 to €150,000, over terms of up to 10-years. There are no personal guarantees required, either.
More about the Energy Efficiency Loan SchemeHere at PureVolt Solar, we use industry-leading software to accurately predict how much energy your solar PV system can generate which can be optimised to your specific premises.
